I just build a computer for a friend a day ago and today its already having problems. IT beeps 3 times when it starts up and nothing comes on the screen. NEED HELP

Video card failure, no RAM, cpu installed incorrectly.. get the name of yuor BIOS and use the beep code to find the failure. Make srue video card is working as well as RAM.

Probably the ram or video card. Try removing the video card and resetting it, same with the ram. If you have 2 sticks of ram, try removing one of them and booting, if that does not work, replace the 1 stick of ram and remove the other one. That will give you some info if 1 stick of ram went bad.

A single long beep followed by two short would be for the video card on most boards. A constant steady beeping is generally a cpu alert. The best bet is to first try reseating the dimms to see if they are lifted up somehow in the slots or one dimm is bad to start with. Try each one separately there to see how that goes.

If its three short beeps then its video. The bottom line is an essential component has not been plugged in properly, essential components are CPU, RAM and video card. If those three things are plugged in properly you can get to POST. Unplug everything and plug them in again, it always works for me.

Like I mentioned earlier reseating things like memory even the video card would be one thing to try first. Knowing the make and model board however will show the bios version and what the audio alert is generally seen as pointing to on the chart for that.

That would be likely unless he otherwise replies. If the type of memory was mixed you would also see problems come up like mixing single sided dimms with dual sided memory. That would be an automatic fail. Hopefully a reseat of the memory and card was all that was needed there.
