I'm guessing PC133 RAM, and if your gonna get an better system, you cant use the RAM. If the GPU is fine for you, you can keep on using it (even though its out of date...)... Can you tell us what types of Game you play?

thanks for reply ,
yes i use pc133 ram and idont mind to spend some money to have cool system, and since last week while i try to install adob premiere pro 2 recieved a message: you can,t install adobe pre on this pc because this system doesnot support sse2 or sse3 and also my computer is very slow and i like to know what motherboard and cpu ,video card and....you recomend me and i should say i play Fifa 2006 or farcry on my systm and i dont know which one is better intel core 2 duo or amd core 2,please help me.

Most people here will say the intel core duo. But there are always the fan boys that will say AMD. Don't get me wrong, I am running an AMD chip, but that was when AMD was the best going. When I next build a system it will be Intel all the way.

As for a motherboard and all the rest, how much you willing to spend? What do you think you can reuse from your old system?

Was your old system built by Dell or any of the other big pre built companys? That will make a difference if you can use your old case and such.

my old system is packard bell and i am going to spend GBP 300 pounds but if i use my old system for example for power supply and hard drive might i can save some money.what do you think?

Don't even think about using the power supply from the old system. Just plain forget about it! It will be way underpowered for todays systems.

I would start from scratch. Using maybe the cd/dvd player, but those can be had for around $30 so why not get a newer one.

Even the case is useless. No motherboard will fit in it. Thats the problem with companys like packard bell, HP, Dell and all the others. They use special parts that will only fit in the cases they give you. For any replacements you have to go to them to buy them. And they want Big money for the replacements.

Sorry mate, but you are going to have to get a completely new system if you want to go faster.

As for a sound card, most new motherboards have one integrated onboard the motherboard, and for most people they are fine. Same with the lan cards and sometimes the video card. But stay away from integrated video, they suck.

thanks for advise but if i build new system for editing video(adobe premiere) watching dvd, burning dvd and making flash, and playing game and internet what system you recomend me and could u tell me is that easy to set up new pc for first time and where can i find some advise about that please mate .

How much are you wanting/ willing to spend?

Knowing that will help us help you.

Yes it is easy to build a new system from scratch. You just have to follow a few rules and go slow, following the manual for your motherboard very carefully.

I will post a few links on system building in a bit. My next post will have some.

Here are a few links, I will add more, so keep looking back at this post for updates.

Here is one that one of the moderators did for this forum

http://www.computerforum.com/16363-building-computers-101-a.html

This one is about a year and a half old, so some of the things talked about are a bit out dated, but the info is well written.

http://www.abxzone.com/abx_reviews/zep/article_p1.html

Here is a site that has some video to help, seems like a good place

http://computer.howstuffworks.com/build-a-computer.htm

Those 3 links should get you started, at least let you figure out if you want to do it yourself.

Im my case, the only things i have had problems with are setting and or figuring out what the ram timings are and loading windows. I have never had any other problems. I am completely self taught. So if I can do it so can you!
