Good Mother Board?

EVGA puts out some great video cards just like Asus and MSI. The top three names for boards are Asus, Gigabyte, and MSI with Abit and DFI following behond those. I've never heard any complaints on EVGA model boards and favor nForce chipsets over VIA, SIS, and will wait for the next build maybe for an ATI/AMD model.

Thats your personal opinion, Asus-Gigabyte-DFI-MSI-Abit-(Foxconn, EVGA and XFX) all made by Foxconn and Epox are all good boards but I would not list MSI as one of the top three, they have some of the worst over all ratings of most top boards.

"Your opinion" on MSI has been stated often while others have seen great results running their boards. It also depends on who is setting up a board to begin with. EVGA, Epox, Abit, DFI are brands that offer less then MSI, Asus, Gigabyte models while not being on the low end of the food chain there.

If I were to be building a computer in the near future, that would be the board I would buy. That chipset is nice.

I,ve used them all, show me where that is true where EVGA-Epox-Abit and DFI are brands that offer less than Asus or Gigabyte. DFI has been known to be one of the best overclockers for years!

I look at other things besides just ocing like specifications when comparing models by different makes. That means going through each model of one socket type directly at the manufacturer's site. It's just like trying to locate an AM2 model board with two ide channels and more then two pci slots. The only ones found have VIA chipsets on a few micro atx models. One or two with four slots and two ide channels is limited to two dimm slots.

The best chipset out right now is P35, so my choice is the P5K Deluxe. With amazing OC potential and amazing RAM OC, thats my choice. The only downside is no SLI, but I think I may be able to live without that...

PC eye all AM2 Nforce 4s have 2 IDE channels and most have 2 or 3 PCI slots

BUNK! The following is two lists of just Asus AM2 boards alone looked over at Asus directly when trying to decide on which model to go with!

With 2 iide channels:

M2N BP-VM pci slots = 2
M2N PV-VM pci slots = 2
M2V-MX SE pci slots = 2
M2S-X pci slots = 2 only 2 sata ports micro atx
M2N4 SLI pci slots = 2
M2V-E SLI pci slots = 2
M2N PLUS pci slots = 2
M3V pci slots = 4 2 sata ports 2gb memory max micro atx
M2N PV-MX pci slots = 2

With 1 ide channel:

M2N 1394 pci slots = 2
M2N DH pci slots = 3 4 sata ports
M2N-MX pci slots = 2 4 sata ports
M2N-SLI Premium Pci slots = 2 6 sata ports
M2N-E pci slots = 3 6 sata ports (now considered)
M2N-SLI Deluxe pci slots = 3

Looks like a good gaming board. Sli Ready, with Sata, IDE, and nForce 680i chipset. Onboard 8 channel audio, Max supported RAM 8gb.
You'll be set with a quad, or dual core Intel processor.
The only thing that would be a problem with me is I have 3 PATA drives and the board only supports 2 IDE. But Im sure that is not a problem for you lol.

If thats bunk then show me a nForce 4-that doesnt have 2 IDEs and at least 2 or 3 PCI slots.

Again you missed the point there. It's not having 2 ide channels but seeing a board with 2 ude channels with over 2 pci slots and not a micro atx model limited to 2 sata ports. The two models in the list seeing two ide channels are both nForce 4 micro atx having 4 pci slots and only 2 sata ports.

A board with 2 ide channels takes 4 drives there with 2 on each. The newer boards now see one ide channel often to allow for more sata capability. Since pci is old school that seems to linger they still provide a pair of slots since more devices are now usb. Creative has their PCI-E sound cards also available.
