My CPU Fan Is To Noisy!

I have this older computer with a CPU fan is extremely loud and it bothers me
while its running, even enclosed within the case. I would take the fan off or
disable it but it could cause heat damage to the board or cpu. The computer
is a Horizon 2800CL from MDG and it has a Intel 845GVSR P4 Mainboard.

I thought it might have been possible to slow the fan down in the BIOS
settings, but I pushed delete when it booted up and I looked around and
could not find any settings to do that.

Are there any other options or should I just spend a bit of money and
upgrade the motherboard and cpu.

Is the fan just spinning too fast or is there a problem with it(like recent odd noises)? It's not too hard to oil the fan, but that tends to only help for a few weeks or months. You could replace the fan. You could also try to decrease the fan speed as mentioned. Speed Fan typically doesn't support many recent boards. You may consider trying to find something made specifically for your board, or seeing if the BIOS has some options to control it.
