Choosing the right monitor...

Well, I'm still using my 17" CRT monitor - and I have decided the time has come to get a flat screen. I was wondering if you guys could give me a tip on how to find the best one (stuff like contrast ratio and cd/m2 brightness - I have absolutely no idea how they affect the performance of the monitor itself).

I'm looking to spend around £200 max, and I'd like it to be at least a 20" widescreen (or bigger!). I would also like it to be very clear/crisp and support 1680x1050 or 1900x1200.

Here are some I've found myself, however, I'm not sure if they're the best I can get for my money:

Is it better to get a 22" monitor with 1000:1 contrast ratio, or a 20" monitor with 2000:1 contrast ratio (which, by the way, I have no idea what it means).

Anyway - some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
- Tim.

P.S. Just found this: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/125098 Any good?

Yeah, that's one of the ones I was swaying towards.

I have had a pleasant experience with my Acer lcd monitor.Great quality, excellent response time, a really good quality product. Have a look at this one in Argos. A great bargain http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6703507.htm
5ms response should be great for games and its 22inch. I was tempted to buy one myself, but I have my pc hooked up HD to my 32inch lcd tv:P

Hmm, I've heard Samsung and LG are the best for LCD monitors. Not sure on the quality of Acer...
