new computer for gaming

I would like to either buy another computer or build one myself and sell the one I have now. I would rather buy one. I would like to get one that will handle the upcoming games like bioshock and crysis and others. I would like to have an 8800 video card but that might be out of the question. I would like to keep the price around 800 or 900 dollars, I know that is probably kinda low. What would you all suggest? If I can build a better system cheaper, I might think about building it myself. And I don't need a monitor, speakers, mouse or a keyboard.

Also, If I tried to sell the pc in my sig, what would think I could get for it without the monitor? I think I paid around 800 new for it a little over a year ago.

forgot to mention you need to add the q6600, and then go to the monitor tab and remove the monitor. that's how you get the price to $609.

But can the dell powersupply handle the 8800GTS? Also, the computer will probably have some heat issues as Dells dont really have great ventilation.

How well will that video card run Bioshock? Out of these 2 computers which one would be better for the new games coming out like Bioshock?

do you not want to build one yourself? would you rather buy a prebuilt machine because there are websites that will build machines for you to custom order and some are decently priced so you could look there... i wouldn't turn to ebay but thats just me

I would rather buy a prebuilt machine. It doesn't have to be a name brand like Dell or HP. What are some good websites where I can custom build one that is fairly cheap?

I am not worried about buying anything off of ebay. That is where I bought the computer I'm using now. I have also bought many things off there so I'm not worried about getting ripped off or anything.

What do you think of this one? Right now the price is pretty low but I imagine it will go alot higher.

I was reading the reviews for that CPU and they said something about GO Stepping. What is that?

I got a question about CPU's. I have a Pentium D which is dual core, correct? Okay so what does that make the C2D? Shouldn't it have four cores since the Pentium D has two cores? I know the C2D Q6600 has four cores but shouldn't the E6600 have four cores? Do you all know something that I don't know?

Well, what do you know?

I might try to build one myself but I have never built one before and am a little nervous about it.

Celeron D - 1 Cores
Pentium D - 2 Cores
C2D - 2 Cores
Quad - 4 Cores

You probably already know the difference between an Celeron and an Pentium :D

Building an computer is easy.. troubleshooting is another story

building a computer really is wayyyy easier than you'd think if you've never done it before... everything is very systematic and step by step and so long as you have the slightest understanding of computers (ie what components does what and goes where) you can definitely do it
