new computer for gaming

I play games like Doom 3, GRAW, BF2142. I would like to be able to play games like Bioshock, Crysis, and COD4 Modern Warfare.

As for the hard drive, I have 2 hard drives, WD 160gb and WD 250gb, in the pc I am using now. I will just use the 250gb for the new one.

I also have 2 dvd burners, I will just take one of those out. So that saves me a little money right there.

So the card you just listed is way better than the card I listed? I do like that it has a lifetime warranty. I may just get a DX9 card for now and may upgrade later. Or I may even decide to get 2 7900's, who knows.

On that power supply I listed, the 620HX, I noticed it only has 24 amps. You said something about 35 amps would be good.

That motherboard I listed, I noticed it only has 1066/800MHZ rather than 1333/1066MHZ. Is this a big deal? Would I notice a difference between the two?

Update to my build:

PSU: 139.99

GPU: 149.99 +5.84 shipping

Total comes to $882.28 not counting the $75 in rebates. I have read in several places that a quad core is a waste right now since nothing supports it. So I may just wait and upgrade a few years down the road.

Do you see anything wrong with that case? I have been on other forums and they said it costs too much money for what I am getting but they want me to get a mid tower that costs twice as much, the Antec 900. What is so good about that case? And do you see a problem with the cables not being long enough since it is a full tower case?

I might keep on looking at different ram. What do you think on that? Is there better ram for cheaper?

What about that processor and motherboard? Is that motherboard worth the extra cost? Also do you see any bottlenecking or compatibility issues with this setup? Thanks again

GS series suck.. but GT and GTX are out.... I say go by other peoples opinions too. I'm not very good at video cards..

Hence my 7300LE...

Do you think I would notice a difference between the GS and GT models? The prices for the GT models are a lot higher than the GS.

If you can buy with a q6600 for that cheap and the rest of the set-up is built with decent parts then maybe thats the way to go... if not here's a possible build

A 512mb 8600GTS would do better in terms of when playing games makes texture loading much faster rather than the 320mb

What do you all think of that setup? Do you think it is worth waiting to get a quad core? Maybe the prices will drop and there will be more choices. Why is there only 2 quad cores on newegg? Is it fairly new technology?

I might just get the 7900GS for now and save up to get a 8800 GTS or GTX in the future. How well will that 7900GS play Crysis and Bioshock? Could I play with max settings?

I am still don't know which CPU to get. I may go ahead and get a Q6600 since I do quite a bit of multi-tasking. If you were building a system just like mine, which one would you get, the E6750 or the Q6600? How long do you think it will be before programs and games start to utilize quad cores more?

What about the ram? Do you think it would be worth it to get DDR2 800 instead of DDR2 667?

As for everything else, I think it looks good. One other thing, how important is it to wear one of those anti-static wrist strap thingy? I will be standing on carpet.

Ok I changed a few more things. Here is an updated list:

CPU: 279.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

Case: 59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811166004

PSU: 89.99($12 MIR)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341010

GPU: 294.99($15 MIR)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130038

RAM: 95.00($30 MIR)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145590

MOBO: 159.99($10 MIR)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188019

I changed the MOBO and the PSU to save a little money. On the MOBO, what is the difference between this MOBO and the A1 version? The only difference I can see between the two is the audio, sata raid, and the warranty. The A1 version has a one year warranty and the one I just picked out doesn't have one. Are these differences worth the extra money? In the future I will probably get a sound card. Do you think a sound card is worth it?

I decided to go lower on the PSU because I am not going to be doing SLI any time soon. I still want to get a SLI MOBO just in case I decide to, I know I will be able to.

What do you all think now?
