Problem, please help :(

Hi guys,
I have got an ADSL router and I set it up to my computer using Ethernet, My brother has an older computer than only has a USB port which isn't a problem cos the Router has a USB option too. However I can't get his internet to work at all. His OS is Windows ME and I use XP and we're trying to set both computers up in the same room to play AoE over the net. We run the CD and installed all the junk on it. When I set up my internet connection I choose the "Connect using a broadband connection that requires a username and password" And I don't have any modem installed, it works fine. But when I try and set up the account on his PC it says I have to choose a modem to connect with :S.
Please help,

get a NIC and install it in his computer. I have never even tried to use a usb connection as an ethernet alternative, geeeez
 
I have never seen a router with both RJ45 and USB connections
I have only seen modems with both connections and only one could be used at a time.
I would get a Nic card for his system.
