ok, i recently bought my friends kinda old computer off of her, its a compaq SR1308OM

heres the specs

specs are -
CPU AMD 3200 2.2 GHz S.754
1 Gb of RAM PC3200 * i added...... i took out PC2700 512 mb
Video- geforce XFX 5200 256 mb * i added
320 Gb HDD * i added
MOBO- ASUS K8S-LA

i tired putting Vista Basic on it and it wont boot all the way , it goes through boot screen but then restarts, what should i do, ........... i think its the MOBO & CPU holding me back. so if i go and buy any one of these deals

it wont be because the system is old that vistas not working for you,Maybe its a bad install because my rigs even worser than that and vista Ultimate works brilliant on it:cool:.

compleatly format and try installing Vista again:)
 
hmmm mayb, but ive tried installing and reformatted 2 times , it recognizes the 2 sticks of 512 and my videocard, i looked up the boot sequence and recognizes all the drives ??? . i just think its the CPU/MOBO ...........well thats what i minimized it too

i would try diffrent ram if you could,I couldnt see it been anything else:confused:

try taking out the 1Gb stick you put in and put the original PC2700 512 mb and see if it works:cool:
 
I seriously doubt its the cpu/mobo. Unless the mobo has some blown capacitors, I dont really think its that.. More around an bad install, faulty RAM, overheating... PSU is unsufficient...

hey... when you added all that stuff did you check out thePSU? Its still amazing my mom's compaq @ 2.4GHz had an 250W -_-...

naw cant be the PSU . its 350 watts, i dont think this computer is a power horse really.
