Newb with a HDTV as monitor question.

OK, referencing this website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI

My card has a DVI-I (dual link) output.
My TV had a DVI-D (dual link) input.

Does this make them incompatible? The cable I am using looks like it is DVI-D (single link) on both ends. (again, no pins around the blade).

It reads like it should work just fine... I only need single link b/c it should only be sending a digital signal, which is all my TV supposedly will read anyways.

this is so frustrating....

does the dvi cable work when you plug it into another monitor? it may just be the card.

also maybe video 1 isn't the correct input for the tv. you probably have but maybe the DVI is a different video channel.

OK- I have it working! For the most part... I reinstalled the driver AGAIN... and now its working. I guess it didnt install correctly the first time. My new issue is that at the 1080i resolution setting (1920x1080) the screen is bigger than my telivision screen. I spoke with the tech support and they said I need to experiment with some custom resolutions. How can I set these? The only thing I can find is the slide bars to change the resolutions?!?! The next one down leaves a good bit of black around the screen....

Thanks for alll the help!!

Your computer can't do 1080i, it does 1080P.

And it's bigger than your screen because your 50V500 only has a resolution of 1280x720 (720P) which isn't big enough to display 1920x1080 (1080P)

Shoulda shelled out the big bucks for the real deal.

I am pretty sure your off point on this one... but OK. The TV says its recieving a 1080i picture and displays all the HD stuff perfectly. The 1920x1080 picture is barely too big, if 720i is all it could handle I think it would be WAY too big. Glad I didnt shell out the big bucks for your help though-
