Best For Gaming

GPU is what you look for in gaming and graphics. But the CPU still matters so I'm going to say a fx 6400 or something.

Is the 6400 the same chip as the 5200, 5600-6000? heck get a 5600 and OC faster than the 6400.... im like a 6500

But no Overclocking the 6400 cost MORE but will give better performance, but for the price i would get the 5600-6000 and overclock to 3.2-3.3ghz IMO

Hmm. I can see how you don't want to overclock, but as long as you don't raise the voltage, it is (practically) impossible to kill a CPU. Most likely impossible.

Why not a 3800+ @ 3.2GHz, it's been done quite a bit ;)

Just waiting on my new mobo :D

3800+ at 3.2 hasn't been done quite a bit!? Or where have I been? I thought most of them maxxed out at 2.5-2.8

Thats what i have heard. O, i hit 3.44Ghz with my 5600 today... woot! :P

How much can you spend, can you buy the 6400?

hahahah well im sving up for it :P but for now i just wanna know whats the best AMD CPU out ther for gaming,

It all depends on your budget. Obviously, the best is the most expensive. But the best for you? Thats the difference.

I read a hefty lot of reviews when buying a new cpu for my comp.. a lot claimed 3.0GHz+, one claimed 3.21Ghz.. can't recall the links, and don't have them at this time thanks to a recent re-install of Vista

I'll see about find them, if need be.. otherwise, I'll be attempting 3.0GHz mid-next-week :D

There have been many revisions since the 2.5-2.8ghz days.. 3.0ghz is much better realized today than it was yesterday. But when buying a chip there are still many older chips in the batch. Hope you have a newer one. ;)
