Vista Home vs. Vista Ultimate

In the 64bit OS is there alot of difference between these two . If I bought Home premium would I loss any performance over buying Ultimate or would I just be saving money? OEM version of course.

Actually, you'd probably get better performance off of Home Premium ;). Ultimate is just a bunch of little "goodies" that make it look better. However, those goodies can take up extra processing power.

Yeah , I just put this system together except for updating my video cards and a new PSU, so I was thinking about Home Premium 64 bit and getting either a 8800gts or two 8600gts's along with this psu (ANTEC NeoPower 650 NeoPower650 650W ) what do you think? Will there be many issues with the 64 bit OS like drivers and software?

I think I'll try the Ultimate 64 bit . I hope the psu I picked will be enough for the 2 8600gts cards and the rest of my system.

Theres no difference in performance. The only major differences are that Home Premium can only support 16GB of RAM, whereas Ultimate can use up to 128GB.

The only other difference is that Ultimate has several other "goodies" and extras.

Thank you for all your help. It's a pleasure to post on this great site because you'll always know people are willing to advise and help with your problems no matter how big or small . Thanks again

ultimate has media center!

i'll never buy another computer without media center! It's soooo nice for veggin' in bed and watchin movies

i know of mediaportal, and you certainly get what you pay for.

the interface is very nice, the quality is fine, it has customizeable controller maps, which are all nice features, but it's anything but stable.

You can count on having to get up and alt-control-delete and hard-stop mediaportal on a regular basis.

In fact, i could give you a LIST of MCE alternatives, and their respective downfalls compared to the original.

I've tried every one i could find. Nero, pinnacle media center, jriver, tvedia, sagetv, windvd, and of course mediaportal.
