I have tried out Ubuntu and a little bit of Kubuntu.
I have a 200gb hdd, thats not doing anything at the moment, and I want to get use to Linux, before I install it on my laptop.

So, what distro is as close to windows with the way it acts, like right clicking files and stuff, but gives me full Linux access.

Thanks.

well i know ubunto is the closest. i grew up with fedora so i will just put it out there. it is close to windows but is also close to linux

I am downloading Fedora now. I had trouble saving Ubuntu last time. Like when I restarted it didn't boot up. So... I have Windows Vista on that hdd now I think...

Will Ubuntu or Fedora go right over that?

Thanks.

he said close to windows so then you'll have to think KDE !!
kde can also run a few windows commands, and ubuntu is a far cry fom windows, probably suse10.2 with kde or kubuntu.
since everyone will jump here and say use ubuntu and blah blah , i might say ubuntu too (with regret):(

I would say Freespire, but for the sake of open-source...

Maybe PCLinux. This is the one major distribution that I have not tried myself, but I've heard great things about it. It's KDE by default, which in my opinion is more like the XP shell then Gnome.

There's also OpenSUSE. I'm not a big fan, but it's similar to XP in my experience.

So I would say any KDE based distro.
