for my new build im thinking about getting a Core 2 Quad Q6600.

my question is why are they so cheap?

Well $160 quid Equals about $300 USD which is what ours are currently selling for. Oh and they dropped the price a couple months back too.

Do it. Q6600 is killer.

The core 2 quad dropped dramatically in price, which is nice, as now it's within the reach of a average builder/midrange computer. So basically the sales of the E6600 is going to plummet.

Not really, theres no compatibility issues I'm aware of.

Shane, on Overclockers UK you can get a 95w version which I guess is the G0 revision. Have a look at that as it's only a few quid more.

i was told that i shouldnt go for a quad core, but apparently im wrong?
