Bestec... Good or bad?

... My mom's gave me her old presario... (2.4celeron, onboard vid)...

Seems that the PSU is an 250W (Bestec), with only 12+ @ 14A... I am about to replace it with an Chiefmax @ 28A... BUT the bestec is freakin heavy... seriously. Probably 2x heavier than your average PSU.... Should I replace or keep? I've heard that the heavier the better... but still...

haven't heard of it. It's probably stock, right? Then I'd suppose it's pretty throw awayable, regardless of weight.

Certainly better than Chiefmax, and quite sufficient for your system. I'd keep the Bestec, unless you're having any problems with it.

Hate to see your idea of an average PSU :P:D

Ture... My computres are running off of PSU's I've never heard of :D

Powork
Chiefmax
Kyoto
Power Man
Lead Power

:P

I put it in my AMD 2600+ MX440 and its running F@H fine right now :D Even has an 4pin

I had a Bestec in my eMachines, but since it was only 250W, I swapped it for an Antec 350W model because with everything I'd added, an online PSU configurator showed I was maxing out the Bestec. I put it in the basement as a backup.

Well its been running my Sempron 2600+ running F@H for some time... holding great. gonna see how well it is when F@H is over, reformat, and overclock :D

Im probably just a packrat, but...

never throw away a psu that actually works!

You never know when you might have a need for it.
