internet/local wireless network help

I recently tried to set up a wireless network for my home.
It works fine except when I disconnect the Ethernet cable that goes from my router to the only PC in my home that is still wired. there is a wireless adapter on that PC so I would think that I would not need the wired cable to go from but when I unplug the Ethernet cable (PC to router cable) my network no longer has a internet connection.

is it necessary for at lest on PC to have a wired connection or am I doing something wrong?

Do all your computers loose the internt connection at that time or is it just the computer that you unplug. odds are that if it's just the one computer it doesn't know to conenct to the wireless network. The adapter is probably either diabled or doesn't have the right drivers. Or you could simply need to go under control panel - network and internet connections - network connections and right click your wireless connection click view available networks and click the one that you have and hit connect. If you've never used the wireless network on that computer before it typically won't connect automatically the first time without you telling it to do so.

stupid question. you sure you're disconnecting the wired PC and not the WAN cable from your modem to your router?
