Xp pro problem with updates

Hi all,

i recently formatted and re-instaled Windows Xp pro.

Windows automaticly found updates when i clicked on that little yellow update symbol in the taskbar but when i click on update i get this everytime.

There are 80+ updates that wont install


then when i go to shut down my computer it says it will install the updates then shut down the computer down automaticly.

but the problem is it doesnt...it install about 3 updates then shuts down so therefore it never compleates the update and it keeps saying i need to update my comp

The update at the top of the list may be the point of failure we're seeing here, try removing it and see what happens. If it doesn't work go through them slowly.

Try removing what?It hasnt installed anything

That would take forever,I just checked on Windows updates and there are like 83 available updates

Sometimes it takes a while for them all to install after a fresh Windows Installation. I had the update message for about 1 week before it disappeared.
When did you re-install?

Hi mate,

hmm i re-installed windows on Sunday so it was like 4 days ago,Ive never had this problem before though after a re-install.
usualy they just download,Then instal and shut down the system and then its done within 20 mins or so.

its wierd though because you know the screen when you shut down and it says the system will shut down automaticly when updates are compleate?

well it shuts down on about the 5th update so it never finishes

That's weird! I've never experienced that before!

I know it's not the most ideal solution, but i would try re-installing again mate and do a full format not a quick one.

its not a problem re-installing again,It doesnt take long anyway does it so...

actualy i did just do a quick format when i installed windows again last time so maybe thats caused problems

il try formatting again tommorow after work and see how it goes.
