HI my internet is funny lately......my download speed is reading 150kbps and it should be at least 2mbps.But my loading timeis still fast........?????this only happening since today.


but for the past week i keep getting asked every 30 minutes or so to either work offline or try again to connect in internet explorer even though i have already connection cos MSN is still signed in.I dont get it......i look in IE prefs and i have no connection but am still online......

i am wireless connected at home
 
Erm, you wouldnt get 2mbps unless you had a fiber line in the middle of Tokyo, (and I still dont even think then). Your 150kbps looks correct.

Perhaps your wireless is dropping out. Or its just a crap IE error. Have you tried other browsers? For example Firefox.
 
Yeah the difference between mbytes and mbits.

To answer your problem, try to look in your router if you have somebody else connecting to your network. Did you set up a network key?
 
Mbps....sorry i didnt realise there was a difference.

I am actually paying for 4 Mbps but we ever only peak at 2.5Mbps and now i only getting 150kbps.....this is from that speedtest site.

try a different line speed test, also contact your ISP if it persists, they may be having issues on their end. Used to happen alot with my DSL.

You get 2.5Mbps on the best conditions... If the conditions are not met (no interfering objects, one connection to the router for internet...).
 


This is my usual results, and using a different server than Munich always gets lower results. It seems the speed glitch is fixed so maybe just a server problem, but I still only getting 1.5Mbps most of the time.

I still get the other problem of Internet Explorer asking me to "work offline" or "try again" to connect to the internet when i have a connection and am online.

Depends where you download from, because some sites are slower then others.

2Mbps x 1024 = 2048
2048 / 8 = 256KBps.

You're probably getting 150KBps because your downloading from either an overloaded server or from one far away.

I can understand that but, it only started happening a few days ago. And while i am on msn it doesnt sign out or back in which usually happens when i do lose the connection.
 
We have 5 computers using the wireless, its encrypted. I think it is something in my IE settings but i dont know what. The other computers are on dynamic IP, mine is static so i could forward ports.

Im not worried about it, it is just a minor inconvenience to press try again every 30 minutes.
 
That could be it, five computers on the same network, but it could also be something else... Check your firewall settings too.
 
see attachment of this settings....there are usually connections in this window but there are not now........

I meant on your personal Firewall, it could be it blocking access to internet.
 
You guys are so lucky that you have these kinds of speeds!
Here in my country the speed is really crap.
And if you want to get a higher speed, you will have to pay alot of money to get it done.
