First of all, Hi people, as the subject says, I'm a mac guy, but I'm going pc for one reason, it's called Crysis
alright I did a couple of research on the net about the hardware needed to run this game. I went on ebay and found a guy who can customize a system for me, i need your advice if this is a good deal, as i don't really know which parts i should get. my budget is 1000$ us, thats the price for the system with shipping included. so here's the specs

Case: wind tunnel 360
Motherboard: Asus M2N E AM2 nforce 570*
Video Card: EVGA 640mb 8800gts*
Powersupply: Thermaltake 550w TR2*
Cpu: AMD 64 x2 4200 AM2
memory: G.Skill 2gb DDR2 800mhz*

so basically, to me the price is fair considering the video card and memory, but i didnt get a good review of the mobo. anyone has experienced problems with this one? or any of the parts?

thanks a lot for your help, i can't wait to sell my mac and get Crysis!

Welcome to computer forum. we hope you enjoy your stay here. :D please look at the rules

also is he putting in any optical drives and hard drives. also will he install windows for you?

Its not overpriced because if you add the parts up the total comes to about $1000. But my only concern is IF the cpu would be a bottleneck to the graphics card. Right now the 8800 cards are about the best cards on the market and Crysis is giving those cards a hard time. I would say you would be able to run it high to medium settings. With the nForce 570 SLI (1 card is x16 speed)(2 cards in SLI mode run at x8 speeds) with the nForce 590 in SLI both will run at x16 speeds.

thats good for now, but Brian asked you if the guy will install the OS, will he ?
or the the hard drive already pre-installed with vista ?

he will install the os. Maybe it will sound dumb, but i dont see what the difference, are you talking about having the os disk dvd versus a preinstalled vista?

If he does install it, ask if you can have the disk. But he may only use one disk for all his builds and you may not be able to get it, but atleast ask.

well i mostly meant does it have a os that will come with it or will it be os less. but if he installs it he will probity install the drivers saving you tme

if he gives you the disk then if your computer messes up then you can reinstall vista without having to take it to somebody and they'll charge you to install it

Sure that would be the best, having the os disk, but for the most part, this computer should do the trick with crysis, except for the cpu, not enough power vs the video card? should i get a 320 mb 8800 gts instead and a more powerfull cpu?

With crysis you will want the extra Vram, trust me. Stay with the 640mb. That cpu shouldn't bottleneck it, im not sure. But i think it will be a very nice computer.

Alright, i will keep the 640mb, for the cpu...yes it will go over my budget...I was thinking about building my own but i think it will be more expensive, like bying all the little stuff like cpu gel, fans etc..and i never did this, anyway as for price, its pretty much much the normal price, but the guy dont make any profits...he's new on ebay, he has 5 feedback, he said he was trying to build his reputation as a pc builder, thats why he offers low price, because he doesnt have enough feedback, so he prefers to build a couple of computer without profits but making his name...it makes sense to me, but at the same time, you never know.what do you think guys?

well from what i have seen, he sold 1 computer to a guy, and the feedback was good, but hey who knows it could be his partner in crime who bought the computer...the thing is building your computer is probably lots of fun, but it needs a certain amount of knowledge, are the manuals really that clear? how do you install that windows, going through bios scare me lol, and going to the shop near my place is definately be more expensive.

its pretty easy to install windows just put in th disk make sure your bios is set to boot off of the cdrom or you could go into the one time boot menu and tell it to boot off of the cdrom drive and i never installed vista but it should be just like xp that you just follow the steps and let it go

At the same time, the more i think about building it myself the more it makes sense, i want to know my computer, i like my mac, but its too rigid, i can't do anything with it, but it stable, i like the os, but a pc is more flexible, and i would learn a lot by experiencing the do it yourself.
