hello all,
i just purchased a new acer aspire 5100 from circuit city. seen it advertised on their website and decided to make the two hour drive to go pick it up. that was a mistake. should have ordered it online and waited. i get to the store, tell the salesman what i want and his first reaction is to show me another laptop (which cost 3x as much). i tell him im not looking to replace my desktop, just need a laptop for work. he than tries to sell me a $275 "personalization package" to get me started. he said they would set windows up for me and customize the "windows experiance". i kinda chuckled and said no. he gets noticably upset. he then tries to sell me a $175 security package. i said no again and he walks off. i looked around the store some more and then went to the checkout to purchase and asked them about the ram upgrade they were offering (1gb for $77). not the best price but not bad. i also ask if the laptop has a 1gb stick in it or 2 512's. he goes and opens up the one that was on display and comes back and tells me it has a 1 gb stick and an open slot. i say cool and tell him i have an extra 512 stick at home and will just purchase the laptop.
i get home, open up the laptop to install my ram and low and behold, 2 512 sticks of ram. i got pretty upset, called the manager and @#itched. i wouldnt have gotten so pissed but the salesmen acted like i was some kind of idiot the whole time i was their with rude comments and little games. i didnt realize i was buying a used car.
i just needed to get that off my chest.
queastion. the laptop runs vista and has one gb of ram (and an ati graphics card that uses 256mb of it). the proccessor generally idles about 20 to 30%. i ordered a 2gb stick of crucial ram from newegg. the new stick and one of the 512's will speed things up but why is the processor always running?
laptop specs- amd x2 (1.6), ati 1100 (256mb shared memory), 160gb hd, 1gb ram, cd/dvd burner, wireless, blah, blah
