Ok guys, i got some questions on overclocking & thermal paste.

I got a AMD Athlon 3800+ 939sc, 250W PSU.
Does anyone have any idea whats the max I can OC it to? Is there any way in BIOS I can check what it can max to?

Also, how often should I be changing my thermal paste?

Cheers

Nobody knows :P

You can't just look in bios and find what the max oc is, all you can do is play with the settings a little at a time. Have you read the overclocking 101 thread?

as for the thermal paste, it will last a very long time unless you see a sudden increase in your temps

hi, the maxium of how much you can OC to depends on your cooling system, does your BIOS lets you or not? you can't really check the maxium, most people OC to 2.8,3.0, 3.2, 3.4, 3.6 but remember faster it is the hotter it gets and for thermal grease you don't have to change it very often maybe something like 1 or 2 years.

Thanks for the reply:),

So I just play around wait until my CPU blows up:P
I read the overclocking 101 topic, was very helpful.

What program do you recommend to check my temps?

Thanks again

i use to use speed fan but it doesn't really show me the right temperature. so right now i use PC wizard

Yeah about the thermal paste, its been around 4 years when it was last replaced. I think its time.
What thermal paste do you recommend.

Also does anyone know of any companys that sell computer parts etc.. like newegg but they ship overseas. I've seen how low the prices are over in America, compared to here in New Zealand. I had an idea I could make some money from this.

Sorry about the dumb questions.

well for OCing you would probably want to buy artic 5. well i prefer buying stuff on ebay because it is cheaper. sometimes Newegg seem cheap but after tax and shipping newegg is actually not cheap

Yeah I got so worked up look at all their merchantise, then I found out that they don't ship to New Zealand. That is my problem lol.

oh and lapping ur heatsink will help to decrease the termperature by as much as 5 - 10 degrees. well, good luck finding the best price.
