USB 2.0 no longer recognized

Hi,

I don't know where else to post this, but my USB 2.0 is not being recognized by anything anymore. Transfer rates to an external hard drive, for example, used to be quite fast, and now they're paint-dryingly slow. When I plug in an external HDD, a yellow balloon pops up saying "This device could perform faster." And I looked, and there's no indication of "enhanced" or whatnot.

I don't think I did anything to cause this, but how can I fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try to boot it in Bios that happended to me once and that solve my Problem

I have never heard of this. I doubt you want to boot from that USB hdd.

I suggest you see if the device is running at USB 1.1 or 2.0.

I'm pretty certain it's set to USB 1.1. There's no indication of "enhanced" or anything in the device manager (and there used to be). And Windows Update, it all its glory, can't find a better driver. But I know that I was getting 20x my current bandwidth just last week. What's going on?
