My computer crashed and I installed my "Operating Systems Disc" to re-install everything on my computer. Well everything was fine for 3 weeks until today. I turned on my computer and a windows activiation screen comes on and says my product key for windows is wrong but its not! Everytime I enter it, it says its wrong and to re-check. I am entering the correct one, I know I am. Why is this happening?? It wont let me open anything but internet explorer or enter a new key!! Im about to scream I have way too much important stuff on my computer to lose everything Again please PLEASE help!!

Im typing it exacly like it says on my sticker :confused::(

Oddly enough, I've been having the same problem since I re-formated my HD except it lets me run everything after I close down the window. I know my code is right and so I have never tried to re-enter it.

Okay im not the smartest.......what does that stand for?
I was going to call microsoft but it costs money and I think thats stupid personally. The disc just says "Gateway" Then it says "Windows Vista home Premium 32-Bit" Then in bold letters it says "Operating System Disc" It says to use this disc to re-install your operating system. On the back it has the microsoft sticker that has the product key.

I try restarting my computer but I get taken to the same windows activation screen.

If I close the screen it completely logs me out. I know my code is right too but it demands I re-enter it and continues to say its wrong. I dont want to pay microsoft $59.00 to correct themselves. Thats why I wanted to ask all of you first! :)

no there should be a free call microsoft button. it is like activate over the internet or the telephone

so wait your sticer says for windows XP pro right ? and your cd says for windows VISTA basic pro whatever but correct ? if so theres your problem the sticker is 4 xp and ur cd is vista

No, that picture is just one I found on the internet so I could show you that I was looking at the right sticker :). This is so frustrating, I waited on hold for 25 minutes but Im at work and cant hold very long

Are you certain it's your CD key that you're being asked for? If you're unable to activate Windows over the Internet you'll be asked to enter an activation number, which is NOT the same thing as your CD key. You'll need to call the number listed on the activation screen to receive this. It's a free call, though, and they should be able to help you on that number with any other activation problems anyway.
