Hard Drive Transfer

I bought an icy box external enclosure and have now realised it wont do the job i need it to do. I'll explain my problem. I have a sata hard drive in my broken laptop. I need to remove it, put it in an external enclosure, then via u.s.b transfer the data onto another laptop. I failed to explain this problem in a previous thread. All help will be much appreciated.
 
ok so what does your external enclosure support ?
ive never seen a sata enclosure for laptop, are you using the correct one ?
