However this is not a "switch" or KVM question. What I'm trying to do is actually run two pcs simoutaneously using 1 mouse and 1 keyboard. In other words if I want the cursor to move on both PCs AT THE SAME TIME when I move the 1 mouse, etc.
I have tried splicing two of those USB extender cables together and I got both cursors to move together sometimes but I get "cannot recognized device" errors and its jittery at best.
Well after a 2nd try I got it to work a little. At a few points I had the cursor on both screens moving in sync. But its kinda choppy and it doesn't want to stay that way. Theres some kinda conflict with the mouse being in two USB ports. It can't identify the mouse correctly at all times.
So next I think I'll try putting a PS2 adapter on one end of the USB cable and plugging it into the PS2 port on one computer and the USB on the other and see if that stops the conflict. I know you can have two peripheral devices running to the same USB port so I'm not sure why 1 device can't run into 2 USB ports.
If anyone has an knowledge of peripherals or USB to share its greatly appreciated.
