Hello all,
I've been trying to create a new partition in my "Local Disk C" but it tells me to right-click unallocated region to create one. But its not letting me. Anybody know why????

Currenty running Windows Xp sp2 & im trying to install vista into the new partition.

what software are you using to make partition?

you need to create a primary partition.

if theres only one partition on your hard drive right now then you need to use a program like partition magic but its not free

I have "Local Disk C" and another partition for my xp boot recovery. Ok so i downloaded partition magic and made a partition and installed vista sucessfully. But I also installed bootmagic into my xp recovery partition and now that partition is hidden. How do i bring it back????

so when you install vista it didnt saying about you already having XP? I assume vistsa would let you dule boot. Maybe the bootmagic removed that.

you could get GParted and unhide the partion.

just a fyi I tryed to dualboot vista and xp and to view the files in xp I had to be the owner in vista so i figured I would make myself owner of the whole xp partition so I did all that stuff and then I booted into xp and I couldn't do anything so just letting you know so that u don't screw up that way to

If you only have one partition with the OS on it, Windows doesnt let you resize partitions. So you would need a program such as partition magic.

Yeah, GParted. You need free space though, if you don't have free space that's why you aren't able to add a new partition.

If you have free space, that is using 10gb of a 80gb drive, you can shrink your partion from 80 down to 20 freeing up space to add other partions

Ok i got rid of xp and vista is running extra smooth!!! but now that i'm rid of xp when my computer boots I still see "earlier versions of windows" how is it that its still in the boot screen when i deleted that xp partition.
