Most motherboards don't have an floppy connector anymore... so it's gonna be useless...

I would recommend Corsair or G Skill as RAM but it's up to you..

Did you check out the QX6850?

ditch that... not worth it...
otherwise, looks like a pretty solid build

Ok i will drop the physics card didnt know if i needed it. I already dropped the floppy drive thought i was gonna need it. originally planned using xp. I have looked at the qx6850 waiting for price to drop i plan on building a 2nd comp for g/f and using the processor and ram from this one in that and upgrade to 8 gb ram and qx6850 in mine

DDR3 is not needed at this moment. DDR3 sees very litle performance gain over DDR2.

Google QX6850 and I'm pretty sure that $1059 is the cheapest you can get it. If I remember correctly it seems that it was an bit higher before... Newegg dropped an couple hundred.

If your gonna use that much for an GTX then why not get an better type? Ultra at the same price sound good to you?

Thanks i looked at the video card thanks for the link. The reason i am going with the ddr3 i was thinking about upgrades dwn the road 1 year maybe 2 i wont have to upgrd mobo at the same time. i plan on building this over 6 or 9mths so hopefully there will be price drops and speed increases by the time i purchase the ram and cpu. or do you think it would be more cost effective to stick with ddr2 and diff mobo for now??

I would say stick with DDR2 for now, as oscaryu1 said the performance gain is not significant and it certainly does not justify the steep price.

Lots of changes

Ok can you please take a look at my wishlist now. I made a lot of changes. Dropped price significantly will be able to build sooner! Idea behind all changes eventually want to have 2 comps one for me primary and one the the fiance secondary most of the components i have listed now will end up in hers i can salvage hd's optical and a few other tidbits put in my new case with the higher end memory and such that should drop in price in that 9mth time frame. nice thing nothing goes to waste all will be reused and i get a better comp sooner

You seemed to have dropped alot of good things... the 8600 is crap... I'd suggest an 8800GTS at the least.

Ok i was wondering about that will change. All those good things went into my upgrades list to add as i go they will still end up in my system eventually

I wasn't sure what to go with on the mobo. Can you take a look at the one i chose? I think it is pretty nice just wanted another opinion on it i trust reviews on newegg only so much i like to get as many opinions from endusers as possible

Hey i even got the finance convinced we need it. Guess I am a helluva sales man. To bad though can't bring myself to work at a place where i could make lots of money doing it. Something about going home at the end of the day feeling dirty doesn't appeal. Anyways you didn't see any problems with the line up?? Sorry Friday night be out for a bit I am a little chatty

One question I do have. Do i need both a dvd/rw and a dvd/rom dvd/rw will perform both functions right? I will get both anyways but I was curious. not like the extra 18.99 will kill me to get dvd/rom

In a couple of months the new motherboards will be coming out with PCI express version 2.0, which means it will run the newer video cards coming out at the fastest speed. Older video cards will still work in them, but they will not be able to take advantage of the faster speeds. Right now is not the time to buy a new mother board if you want to think about upgrading down the road. Wait until Christmas and they should be out. Also the newer video cards will be out, and the faster DDR3 ram will be out around then too.

My advice is to wait to build your new system, since all of the CPU's will be dropping in price soon as well.
