Memory advice for Vista

I recently purchased a compaq with only 512MB of RAM running Vista. Anyways I need more memory and wanted some advice on what to buy. I found some Kingston 2GB Value Ram which seems like a cheap alternative. I have only 2 memory slots, so what are my options? All ideas and advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you could provide the model number from your computer, it would greatly help. But without knowing that, I can't help much other than to ask if you know whether both memory slots are used right now.

Whlike yo-yo said whats the model? But something like corsair value select would be nice. 512mb on vista is just a no go, its uses more than that on idle

Its a Compaq Presario SR5110NX, only one slot is being used right now with the 512MB that came with it.

512mb has been hellish so far, i've read that 4GB is the sweet spot for Vista, Do i really need 4GB of RAM?

Well more the better, im fine with 2gb. Though i do plan on upgrading to 4 but im not sure if i'll get a performance increase. Also since yours is a compaq you cant get 4gb becuase it will have 32bit Vista. 32bit vista will only utilize about 3.25gb.

Yeah i think 2 will be fine. I think i got my lightscribe disk's at best buy, but i think they are cheaper online like newegg. I have only made like 3 lightscribe disks so far.
