Hey guys,

i need a new widescreen monitor for my pc,Would like a 19" widescreen or even a bigger one if anyone can find a deal in the uk stores.

i currently have a huge Hp v72 17" CRT which uses too much desk space so im getting rid of it.

anyway my budget is around £130 max...i dont realy want to spend any more than that because im also saving for a new build but i need a monitor first as my rooms getting a revamp with new desk,Units etc:D

anyway back to the monitor...how these look?

1.19” LCD Monitor (No brand name  )

2.HP 19" Widescreen Monitor (TFT)

Now both of the above look tempting to me and especialy no. 1 because its LCD and its 19" but has no brand name:cool:

but the second one is a Hp and i know Hp monitors are realy good but its TFT:)

What should i look for?

TFT or LCD?

That makes no sense...TFT is LCD...

also, why are you looking at staples? They're going to cost quite a bit more compared to online retailers.

LOL you know i thought they were differnt:D
ohh well im stupid i know:D

the reason im looking at staples is because i dont realy like buying online,Its not safe.
also with buying online you have to wait for it to be delivered where as i can just walk into the store and get it myself from a store :)

do those i posted look good though spec wise?

tks ;)

Out of the two that you've linked to I'd go with the HP, it looks a very nice quality!

Ordering off the internet is very safe you know, Ebuyer is where I ordered all of my PC components from, they deliever really fast and they're very cheap! :D

If you would consider ordering off the internet, these are two to look at.
Although, In my opinion, I wouldn't get a widescreen unless it was bigger than 21 inches, just my opinion. I have a 19" Samsung SyncMaster, it's amazing, so big and the colour is amazing!

why is that mate?
probably hard for you to explain but if you could:)

also i was wondering...would my GFX card be okay with a new LCD monitor?
it has both vga and dvi i think look:

would there be any problems?

You could use an 20" VGA LCD on an 1MB pci card and there wouldn't be problems.

So yes.

DVI and the VGA is for dual monitors or an better display type. You monitor will include an VGA cable, no DVI.

Go with...

I bought a 19" widescreen Acer LCD about 6 months ago for 180 bucks at Office Depot.

It is 180 bucks at Newegg. It is a pretty nice monitor, and it works great for gaming. So far, 6 months down the road, no dead or stuck pixels. The only thing I didn't really like about it was the backlight kind of bleeds through on the edges a bit, but you can only notice it if you are looking at something that is totally black (like the bars on a widescreen movie), or something like that.

Otherwise the picture is beautiful.

The other perks is that it is VGA and DVI compatible. I tried hooking it up VGA to see if I could notice a difference, and yeah... not a big fan of VGA. I set my mom up with a 17" Viewsonic VGA LCD monitor. My monitor puts hers to shame. VGA isn't as crisp and clear.

I just feel that when you get a widescreen smaller than 21" you lose viewing area, my 19" looks a lot bigger than a 19" widescreen, but I guess it's personal preference.

I'd get one of Ebuyer though Shane, think you will?

yeah a 19" widescreen looks smaller than a 17" standard.. personally i got a 20" standard because i get the width of a 19" widescreen without the height loss
