How do I replace hard drive & add RAM on a HP Pavillion a1410y...

Actually, for a new drive that will not work. Right click on my computer, pick manage. From there expand the storage tree and click on disk management. All your drives will be shown in the right pane. At the bottom find the drive that is unformatted right click on it and pick initialize or create partition (I can't remember if initialize shows up or if it's automatic when paritioning). Then follow the steps in the wizard.

To install the drive in the case, just mount it near the other drive, there should be space for at least 1 more hard drive.

Success!

Turns out the RAM was the wrong kind so that part must wait for another day, but as for the new HD, I had to pull an old fashioned floppy drive to make room for the new drive. Then I partitioned it 50-50.
