Small red X won't allow me to open.

Sometimes when I'm on different sites and want to open something there's times where a red x appears and I can't open it. What do I need to do to keep this from happening?

Okay,,,,,,I'm lost already. DL? I'm using Microsoft internet explorer and have Norton anti-virus. Does this help?

Lol, download. Ok be more specific, better yet, put a screenshot of the problem up here. Hit the print screen button on the keyboard when on the page, go into MS paint (start < all programs < accessories < paint) hit ctrl+v, save, upload to photobucket or something, and then post the link here.

That specific X represents a missing plugin. Where is it located? On youtube where the video should be. etc. If you click it it might bring you to a DL page, just make sure you're not DL'ing a DCOM or ActiveX plugin, those aren't always safe.

I thought you got that when the image isn't on the site anymore. It shouldn't happen for that many sites, so it's probably something different.

If a majority of the sites he's visit requires the plugin/whatever it will. Give me an URL (address) of a couple sites where the X is present.. Also, consider using Firefox ;) I know, to each their own but still.

Here's one. www.dpreview.com and under the Canon forums. Some photos won't open. Re: Uploading photos- how to? AnthonyMc5 14 hours ago

The pics with the X over them are simply too large. The forum probably disallows such large pics, at least the loading of the pictures. You can test this by entering the URL of the pic in your browser, opening the file and then refreshing the page with the X. It will now show up but in a scrollable fashion. :)

But others in the forum can view the pics and the x is keeping me from viewing them. You read the forum and they give me feedback about the pic. The first post by me and the one under it both have the x. Check it out to see if you can view the pic.

I can, using IE. At first I couldn't, it had the same "missing-plugin" X. But I did as I described above, loaded the picture, and now it displays fine. You're right in that other peopoe can see it, why, I dunno. Maybe they're all using a different browser or something  But, as I said, the X appears with me too.. It's appears to be a specific issue with IE, and firefox as well. But rest assured, Ive never come acrossed this before, and apart from this minor situation here, I don't see It as becoming a problem, It doesn't happen anywhere else, correct?

There still seems to be something with maybe the XP service pack or my Norton that keeps it from opening. Why can others view it and I get the x?
