first about me, i have been building computers since i was in middle school. currently i am running 2 machines one with an athlon 64 x2(socket AM2), 2 gig of ram, geforce 7900 GS pci express video, (2) 250 GB, and (1) 80 GB western digital hard drives, antec 430W power supply. the other is an athlon 64 3000(socket 754), 160 GB seagate, 1 gb of memory, and an ATI x1300 agp video, antec 380W power supply. the issue i have is with the athlon 64 machine. it reboots at random, when ever its in the mood. im not sure what wrong with it. i thought about starting with a re-install of windows, since that would rule out software issues. then im not sure what else could cause the issue. could it be the power supply, video card, motherboard? since i have no method of testing anything, i am at a loss. i run only gigabyte motherboards in both machines, i feel that they are a quality product and i try to build a computer better, stronger, and more reliable than the junk "off the shelf" vendors use. this computer did start doing this until recently i have ran the motherboard, video card, and memory for the last 2-1/2 years without an issue. it was my gaming machine at one time. its now my wifes computer, as she isn't into gaming. other than this issue its a fine machine for daily use applications(collage coarse work she does).

When was the last time you cleaned all of the dust out of it? After a year or so you can build up a surprising amount of dust inside a case. Get a couple cans of compressed air and clean it out. Dust build up = heat build up. Which can cause random restarts.
