I recently switch from a dual core to a p4, I know its sounds like a down grade but the dual core was giving me problems and a tech I was talking to said Dual cores have problems core 2 would be better. Since I wanted a cheaper alternative and only need this unit for Internet an minor business apps. I went with Pentium 4. After the change, the screen stays black, no boot pages or anything. Can some one point me to the correct action to fix this.

A tech? Like from the "geek Squad"? Hehe, what kind of problems were you having? Are you sure it was proccessor troubles?

Are you sure your motherboard supports the P4? What motherboard do you have? And what problems were you having before you switched out the processor?

If it supports a Pentium D (if thats what you had previously), then it will take most P4's. The only thing I can see is that he may have bought a 65nm P4, and it's possible his motherboard doesnt support it.

What model motherboard and processor do you have?
