OS won't boot, already troubleshooted, but nothing works

i have a vista pc that i built myselft.
the mobo is a gigabyte ds3

the problem i have is the OS won't boot, from the hard disk or even from the vista dvd. NOTHING SHOWS UP AFTER THE FIRST "LOGO"

troubleshooting i have already done are:
resetting CMOS,
trying to boot from vista dvd to reinstall OS
unplugging and replugging some stuff...

what happens when i start is...i see the gigabyte logo, then it shows the normal boot screen and then nothing...

i didn't touch my computer and it was fine the night before...

thanks for reading, i really need your help...any troubleshoot tips are welcome, thanks

what happens exactly, more details needed, does it restart or does the screen do dark ?
does the bios even identify the connected devices ?

oh sorry
the bios identifies everything...i'm not sure if it matter if it identifies gfx card...cuz i don't know where that would be, but it identifies the memory, and it lists the hdd and dvd burner in the slots. After initial startup, like after the "gigabyte logo, and the screen after" the whole screen just goes black...and does nothing.

i've tried selecting boot priority to dvd drive. the page says

"hit any key to boot from cd/dvd"

so i do, and the same thing happens, the screen goes black and nothing happens from there on.

something is wrong somewhere, so if you've checked rams (you sure you did this one?), hard drives, cables and all, your problem can resort to only 1 thing, the motherboard, dunno but have you checked your PSU, are you sure it's working ok with the mobo ?

since you've checked all that i have no other ideas, can be your mobo is dying a painful death but i maybe wrong

can't be much of a help :(

yea that is actually my best guess...cuz i was a freaking retard and i think i half killed my mobo already b4 cuz i had it touching the metal in the case and might have shorted it partially...cuz my cpu fan head didn't work...but yea...i'll unplug replug everything...recheck everything...let my computer boot for like 5 hours....and...well...if all else fails

teehee...time for a new mobo xD xD xD

edit: but yea, any other trouble shoot tips?

does it have anything to do with the OS itself...or hdd...or cd/dvd...?
and why is it my mobo, the bios seems to run fine..right?

Install and reformat your HDD, if you have not already done. This seems normal to me. My E4300 custom had an half bad DVD drive that didn't want to read at times, slowing the boot process down ALOT.

u have brass standoffs in behind the mobo right?

lol yes i have brass standoffs...that was my mistake the first time... how do i install and reformat the harddrive when i can't boot anything up ???

the bios tells me that windows failed to start because the hdd isn't working?

but the cd/dvd won't boot either????
