GPU Overclock

I didn't wanna hijack mep916's post, so I decided to make my own.

Although I'm very unfamiliar with overclocking GPUs, I was going to attempt OCing my 8600GTS with QTITool, but a problem arose before I even started. When I play BF2 on full settings, my GPU runs at about 75*c. I'm thinking this is a little hot. I do have a PCI Slot Fan, but that doesn't seem to be helping the temps much. Should I be worrying about the temps? Or should I continue to try to OC it? What temps are good on a semi-load?

And lastly, I understand OCing the CPU pretty well, so I was wondering if OCing a GPU was similar to OCing a CPU. I see that I can adjust the core clock and the memory. How should I go about this?

75 degrees celcius is nothing, GPUs can withstand temperatures way higher than that. The threshold for a high temperature warning for my 7900GT is 125 degrees celcius.

Kinda thread jacking, (sorry :()

My lappy is the hottest when idle. The GFX idle's @ 120C... bit hot right?

As for 75C, I'd say get an fan. 75 is an bit hot to my liking. Get one of those cheap PCI/expansion card exhaust fans, or hot glue an 80mm to it.

lol he already said he had one of those.

i say that the temp really isnt a problem.

Thanks for the head's up. Did not notice that.

You fan is probably sucking the air out right? I'm talking about the ones that acutally BLOW to it... I have one right under my desk.
