My laptop doesnt connect to my net >>?

Hello guys i have a laptop and its fines pretty fast and i have a desktop PC, Now i got a router and a cable modem and i put the cords in and it just doesn't connect to the net on my laptop i even plugged the laptop straight into the cable modem. Please help thanks
 
is this a work laptop.. you may have some sort of proxy set up on it... I did not really understand your post... nothing worsk through the router or just the laptop? Turn off your firewalls on your laptop
 
There is some problem with the way you have asked the question. Are you having problem with the PC or the laptop in connecting the internet. Please clear the question . Hope i will be able to help you out.
