Try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers

If you have tried a different usb port then go with the ps/2 adapter that should have been included. Which version of Windows are you running? You could try an update by selecting the Windows version at the MS downloads site.

i m running windows xp media center edition with all updates from windows update....my usb to ps2 adapter doesn't work or my ds3 motherboard is broken-_-... thanks though=D

my mouth works perfectly, i have tried it with 5 different mouses... secondly, i did reinstall my windows 2 times, thanks a lot though

my mouse works fine with my laptop....i found something in gigabyte ds3 bios....there was this option for "usb mouse support" and i changed it to enable...it did help somewhat, but it still has mouse freezes

EDIT: Do u think i shud flash my cmos or bios (or are they the same)?

The first thing when going to update any bois is to review the information on that seen in the user manual or on the manufacturer's support site. For a laptop you would far then likely be using the old floppy method for sure.

There everything had to exact to see good results like entering the "ren 0838(original version) 1023(updated version)" type rename command for entering the original followed by the update's number in the small text window of the dos tool used. Now you simply download a Windows utility if not found on the software disks included with the model there and some will automatcally download the update and run that for you.

sorry about all this confusion. i have a Gigabyte DS3 and plan to flash it or reset CMOS...
i have the latest BIOS..so what should i do?
i have checked and made sure that the mouse was working properly
i have checked that the drivers for windows XP were installed
i have uninstalled windows twice
is there anything else i can do to fix the problem

Have you tried using the ps/2 adapter to see if the cursor will move then? You may have the latest version but simply seen an incomplete flash when updating earlier or some programming was lost. A reflash could see the problem corrected if this is from a bios problem and not a defect on the usb bus itself. Have any other usb devices to try the ports with?

i have tried the mouse on different usb ports, i don't think its the usb ports problem... i am going to reflash my bios when i get home.... would it affect my windows??

and i also tried the ps/2 adapter, it still has freezes

i use webcam, printer, external hd and etc for my other ports...
they work fine!

Updating the bios is programming an eprom chip on the board itself. That's totally independent of any version of Windows or OS being run on the system, Most all newer boards out will see a flash utility you run while in Windows or a simple download with the utility and bios version in one self contained file with the exe seen at the end.

The problem being seen with the ps/2 adapter on top of the usb problems isn't very encouraging however. If you see problems updating the bios that would point out a bad chip on the board from all the problems being seen.

i foudn out the problem...it was my samsung ml 1740 laser printer....everytime i turn it on .. it lags the mouse..do u happen to know why? i tried diferent usb ports for the printer, but it still frezzes the mouse...if i turn it off , the mouse is reasonably faster...and... it hasnt freezed so far..its not a coincidence..i tried it 3 times...

Maybe conflict?

Sounds like the printer is pulling the power right out of the usb bus plus seeing problems when using the ps/2 adapter? Time for a new printer I guess! :P
