So i have 8 thousand dollars saved up to buy a lcd tv surround sound system and a tower.

The a/v stuff sets me back 2k so I'm left with 6k to build the ultimate media gaming pc on this planet mwahahah lol.

I'm having a lot of trouble picking out some awesome parts so if you guys had 6k what would you through into a system(can be a full tower).

Maybe it's just me, but if I had $6K to spend on a computer alone, I wouldnt use all of it. Mainly because an ultimate machine would still only run you no more then $4,000, and theres no point in spending hundreds of dollars extra on a part when something that costs half as much is still just as good.

But because i'm bored I will build an "ultimate gaming machine" for you.

That is better then i can spend a little more on the tv and surround sound system or get a really nice sofa :D.

Spend more on the TV and surround sound system! You can build a very decent HTPC gaming system for about $3000. And remember, in 6 months, no matter what you build, it will be outdated.

Damn Omega! Those are some nice parts, but way way overkill.

But I know, he wanted an ultimate system.

I think it's a bit much though.

Your video experience will depend mostly on what tv and sound system you buy, the computer is an add on to that. So spend accordingly.

I would get the QX9650. It's suppose to ship the second week of November.
True, but I built it using parts that are out now.

I know it's way overdone, which is what I said earlier, but he said he had a $6K budget, so.. :P

i did some looking around and yeah i drop the tower budget to about 3k to about 3.5 i really had not looked into anything prior to posting this so i just allocated a enormous budget to a tower and was going to costco a tv hahah although they have a nice 62" lcd screen for 1.7 i think vizio or something looks kind of nice.

omega yeah that is definatly the ultimate but true the gain i get is not enough to spend an extra 3 grand on

I told you it's pointless to spend that much, but you insisted :P

If you want to cut back, drop the 4 hard drives and add one 750GB hard drive. You may also want to cut back to a DDR2 motherboard and RAM.

I highly suggest a WD raptor 74 or 150 just for os and another one for all the files/games programs etc. my comp is killin the hdd (its a quad core). it's the main bottleneck and it's a WD 1500ahfd (games, programs and os are on it)

No. You want to install your games/programs on the the Raptor w/ the OS. Media, documents, etc. should be installed on an independent HD. ;)

Agreed. You want your game files on the raptor because then the game and it's levels will load faster then if they were on a 7200RPM drive.
