It will keep it stabely cool, but if you want something to do its job properly then look at something like a tuniq tower, ultra 120 or a zalman, good thermal paste

Eh the stock cooler isn't the greatest, I idled at 40-44*c and load around 50+. With the Zalman i idle at 27*c and load 45

My Zalman Heatsink and fan keeps my Intel Cpu temperature on idle at 38* and with load at 50* with a prescott cpu which is known to produce more heat than its predecessors.

I have a presscott as well, I was idling at about 35 and full load at 43, but i changed the paste to arctic silver 5, and am now idling at 31 and full load at 38, this after only one day, 2 or 3 power cycles.
I am due to receive an arctic freezer pro later on today and will post those results, the reviews for the athlon arctic freezer are really good, you should consider it, they are very affordable and cool surprisingly well.

Read my thread right above this one title "arctic 7 pro freezer" I damaged mine while removing it to change the thermal paste - I highly recommend this cooler, just be super careful and use the stock paste - it actually worked better for me than arctic silver 5.

Thats an OK heatsink, but its outdated now and you can get better, try to look for a heatsink that blows air out the back of the case, not that blows air onto the mothebroard

The Prescott has actually been labled the hottest running CPU in history.

Good job Intel :P

They can reach over 83c with stock cooling with no overclock.

Hmmm roasted marshmellows anyone??

If my C2D hit 60 I would be upset, luckily for me the Zalman does a great job in the Antec 900!!!

My prescott is about a year and a half old. At first the performance was great (p4 ht 3.06 lga775) now its starting to slowly begin to get sluggish, but im pretty sure thats due to vista :sigh: but I've never had very high temperatures, nowhere near 82 C, The highest I've got so far is around 42 degrees, I have very good cooling in my case though, 1x120 sucking air are, 2 80mm exhaust, 1 80mm side far, hard drive cooling fans, and a recently added Arctic Cooler 7, of which i ordered a back up for $20, in case i run into a new build soon I can pitch it to make a pretty penny.

system

ok with stock amd HSF idle my cpu is 33c system is 38c Load 39c cpu System 41c is that ok..thats with not overclocking at all..
