new gaming rig build comments?

Hi. I am building a gaming system and I hope to be ordering the parts very soon (within a week). Im pretty much done choosing parts but I want to be sure everything is compatible and will work well. Although I probably wont be changing any parts I am open to suggestions. The only issue I am having is wheter to opt for Vista 64-bit or stick to 32. Any help is appreciated.

New system specs:

Case: Antec 900 ATX
CPU: Q6600 (plan to oc it to 3GHz)
Cooling: Zalman CNPS9500
PSU: PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750 Quad
Mobo: ASUS P5N32-E SLI
Vid. Card: 8800 GTX (i mite SLI later)
Memory: 2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800MHz
HD 1: Raptor 10000RPM 150GB
HD 2: Seagate 7200RPM 320GB
DVD: Two 20x DVDRW w/lightscribe
OS: Vista Home Premium

Everything looks to be compatible

I might suggest a few things

One, make sure to buy the CPU at clubit.com, they are a good reputable seller, and they guarantee that the Quad core is G0 stepping

Two, id highly suggest a modular PSU, so if thats important to you, make sure your PSU is

Three, do you really need SLI? You may be able to save money on the Mobo by not getting an SLI board. SLI in most peoples opinions, is a waste of money, because its not doubling the GPU power, its only multiplying it by about 1.3 to 1.5

Lastly, I highly suggest Vista 32 Bit. Theres really no benefit at all with a 64 bit OS, and I highly doubt you are gonna make use of more than 2 GB at once with just gaming. In fact, id go as far as to reccomend XP 32 Bit, but thats just my preference. Im sure you want DX10, so go with Vista if thats what you're set on

good luck!

Get an G0 Q6600, drop the 9500 and take an 9700, unless you like lots of noise, get an http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341002 <- that instead. Drop that motherboard, because 1) Sli is useless, and only gains very small percentage, and your losing money when you could get an better card alltogether. P31-DS3L or P35-DS3L. Drop the ballastix and get XMS2, sale for $48 dual channel kit. 2GB. Drop one of the opticals.

Well it looks like a hell of a gaming rig, thought the 900 can get a bit crowded. I've also heard that the 9500 could be loud, and pair that up with a not so quite case, you've got yourself a nice vacuum cleaner ;). As for 64/32bit OS, if you're going to use 2 gigs of ram, then get a 32-bit OS. If you're going to use over 3 gigs, then get a 64 bit OS.

Im looking for comments on what I have. The only parts I am considering changing is the amount of RAM and the OS (32 or 64-bit). Plz dont comment on SLI, the mobo, etc.

Are you planning on upgrading to 4GB? Otherwise, 32bit is fine.

Memory, get 4GB. XMS2.

Did you mean to say this?:

I would suggest buying a modular power supply. Why? Managing cables inside the 900 can be difficult. With a modular PSU, you plug in only the cables that you need.

If you like the Quad Silencer, it's all good. It's an excellent PSU. You don't need 4 gigs of RAM.

The zalman got great reviews so i doubt ill change that. I guess its down to vista 32 vs 64. Ill be getting 2GB of RAM but may upgrade to 4GB later. Is 64-bit less compatable with more games and such?

You ask for suggestions? Then you give the people crap that give you what you asked for?

My suggestion is take your attitude somewhere else.

That was hardly a fight. Oscar and I are cool. You received excellent advice off of that thread. I felt it was important to set the facts straight about the Raptor. Now you're buying one. WTF?

I think your list is fine, expect I personally don't like Asus.
I prefer MSI P6N Diamond
