urr...ok.
Of course you cant boot from hard drive cause the setup wasn't completed.
Anyways i suggest you do a BIOS reset or so call "fail safe" thingy.
then try rebooting from cd and see if it works

none ever daid that..ill try it right now

Edit: Nope it did not work..all that realy did was change my 1st boot to floppy, so i changed it to CD ROM and it still said "Error loading Operating System".....can i FORMAT MAT MY HDD FROM BIOS?

THanks

no you can't format from BIOS, but you can from a boot floppy.
but why do you want to format your HD, i mean the problem is not with your HD but booting from the CD

there's something funny in your thread, when you boot form cd you get :Error loading operating System ,and when from HD you get :Error Cannot load operating System, which is basically the same thing.
ok format your hard drive from an external source, reset everything from BIOS and boot up from the XP cd again and see what happens

What's the condition of the disk you're using? is it clean? dirty? scratched? Cause these can cause problems, but even it its a clean disk i'd clean it anyway, just to be safe.

Also are you running anything overclocked? cause these can have an affect on installation too. I remember once i tried to tighten my ram latencies more, computer didnt like it lol

The Cd is clean.
Its an OEM
Not OC anything

How would i format my HDD from an external source. Im a noob when it comes to computers.. sorry. BTW thanks for posting.

Thanks

You could try burning GParted onto a CD. It's a great partitioning/formatting tool. Or, you can burn a .iso image of a Linux Distro and create a Live CD. Of course, you'll be booting to a CD by using either of those methods, but if it does work, you'll know your BIOS/CD Rom are working and the problem is with your XP CD.

If you have a floppy drive, I highly recommend going to bootdisk.com and making a Windows ME Boot Disk. It will have a program called fdisk that can be using to create/delete partitions. Afterwards, you'll have to format from DOS, but that's easy. This method will take a bit more time, but works perfectly.
