For the last few months i have been having no problems with my seagate barracuda ata 200gig drive, just recently it has decided to completely stop working. I am able to see the device during the bios and the boot sector but when i attempt to open the device "F:\ is not accessible the file or directory is corrupted or unreadable" If anybody can help i surely would appreciate it
System Specs
Hard Drive Type: SEAGATE BARRACUDA ATA 200 GIG
software: Windows Xp sp2
Motherboard: Lan Party UT
RAM: 1 GIG

i ran both the short and long diagnostic test, and the drive passed both

short test
Ran Diagnostics
Nvidia nForce 3 SATA
This Drive Supports Security Features
SMART is supported but disabled
Logging Feature Set is not Supported

Long Test
Nvidia nForce 3 SATA
Device is 48 bit addressed
This Drive Supports Security Features
SMART is supported but disabled
Logging Feature Set is not Supported

Should the drive be changed from 48 bit addresed to 32 bit addressed?

Is this a seperate HDD from where your boot drive is? Or is it a partition on your main hard drive?

If it is a partition, then it most likely has become corrupted. If it is your main hard drive, then having it as a F:\ drive instead of a C:\ drive could cause some problems, but since it has worked up till now?

If it is a seperate drive from your main drive, then it has either become corrupted, or the port you have it plugged into on your motherboard has gone bad. Try changing where it plugs into on your board.

There is always the possibility that this drive has just died. But with today's drives, that is not the most likely problem.

The drive itself looks ok, does it show up in computer management->disk manager? And if it does what does it look like? (ie unknown partition, raw, etc)

It seems as if though the drive was somehow erased without me doing so here are a few of the stats from Computer Management. Is there anyway i can recover my files or should i just go ahead and reformat the drive?
When i right click i am able to select the option to mark partition as active should i do this?

STATS

It says Healthy
layout: partition
