I want to build a PC because I can't really find any pre built one with value. They seemed all overpriced. This would be the first PC i would actually make but ive worked with the PC i have now with only replacing Video Card and moving memory.

I want to make a PC with the following components and I want to know if some things are unnecessary and could be changed for something else and I want to know if all the things I listed would work once I buy everything and assemble it myself. I provided a Newegg wishlist for reference.

Thermaltake Armor Series VA8003BWS Black Full Tower Case w/ 25CM Fan - Retail

ASUS CROSSHAIR AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

XFX PVT80FSHE9 GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported HDCP Video Card - Retail

ABS Tagan ITZ Series ITZ1100 ATX12V / EPS12V 1100W Power Supply

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADX6400CZWOF - Retail

Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KHX6400D2K2/2G - Retail

Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JB 250GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM

SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S203B - OEM ( 2 of them)

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 Channels PCI Interface

Microsoft Windows Vista 32-Bit Home Premium for System Builders Single

ZEROtherm BTF90 92mm Silent UFO CPU Cooler - Retail

Total: ~$2000 ( with tax+shipping) ( price might change with sales or deals but not much, i would expect)

Also if you could reference me to a Comp Building Guide, that would be helpful too. Any advice gladly accepted =)

Oh also for a basis of what I want. I basically want the rig to be Great throughout the end or last year of college (Im a senior so thats 4-5 years). If need be I can switch out memory cards or HD but I just don't want to skimp out on the Motherboard,Processor, Graphics Card, and Power Supply.

It's not sli but I've heard great things about it from other members
And if you wanted to with the money you save on that board you could get yourself a Quad Core
Just a thought
Here's two great guides (First one thanks to Lax)
