ok im slowly getting back into the loop and learning the new products...I found out what q stands for...QUAD ahahaha....im so nerdy :o

anyways, im not really a budget builder so suggest away...just nothing crazily overpriced, thank you.

hmm...looks nice but it doesn't look like I can buy that brand name over here...Im building from microbytes and they only give a choice of intel, giga, asus, msi, evga or asrock.

evga? thats what i linked...? if they don't have evga... i would go for Gigabyte or ASUS, make sure its the 680i, not the 680i LT. And supports 1333fsb

For a reasonable price and you will get the SLI options with 1333fsb, i say a nFoce 680i board

This is a little cheaper, not sure what the major difference is though

I agree with the NF68-A1...it is an excellent board. I have the younger brother of it, the NF67.

The difference between the NF68, NF67, and NF63 are the chipsets. While all use the 680i chipset, they use different variations. The NF68 uses the SLI version of the 680i, the NF67 uses the LT SLI 680i, and the NF63 uses the SE SLI 680i. The difference between them is that the NF63 is an older board and does not support quad core overclocking (but it will support a quad core), a lesson which I learned the hard way (ordered the NF63, got it delivered, looked on the back of the box and saw that it. however, since it was still unopened and in the shrinkwrap, i sent it back to newegg and they gave me a full refund). The main difference between the LT SLI and the SLI chipset is that the SLI has dual 10/100/1000 ethernet ports, and its probably a bit more stable when OC'ing, etc. However, if you don't want to spend the extra money, the NF67 will suffice.

Agreed

The main difference between the nforce 650 and 680sli is that the 680 will run sli mode at x16/x16 as the lower chipsets run sli mode at x8/x8. (the nforce 590 and 680 are the same, just ones named different for intel)

I understood about one sentence in that whole paragraph maniak...hahaha....im still trying to figure out if I want sli..or need it! I now see how pointless this question is and how many times its already been asked...sorry

but I will look in the nf68 and the others, thanks

You dont have to use it but its there if you want it. If you know your never going to use it, get a Giabyte P-35 DS3L or P-35 DS3R

you're younger then me so I wont take that advice!

just kiding...ill look into the giga because i can't get the nf68 here for some reason....it lets me choose it but then I can't add any cpu with it! I hate Canadian dealers....piss me off

Take a look at canadacomputers.com, tigerdirect.ca, ncix.com, xoxide.com and frozencpu.com.

Among those, I'd specifically say to look at canadacomputers and ncix for the best prices and greatest selection.

Anyway, about the SLI...I got this board with the 680i chipset because I wanted to keep my options open for the future. I mean, two 8800GTS's are totally out of my price range right now...I can't even afford one...my current one was a birthday present. But I liked the two 16x/16x PCI-Ex16 ports so that if I did decide to go SLI at somepoint in the future, I would have that option.

If you do decide to get an eVGA motherboard, make sure you get the A1 revision. It is considered the "retail" version, and comes with all the documentation, cables, etc, in addition to a lifetime warranty. Also, don't get the NF63.

o wow! those are some good sites with great prices...you just saved me a bunch

I guess ill pick up the nf68 a1 after all :P

thank you
