New Build (first time)

$600... It's not in stone but would rather not go much higher.

What i have so far comes out just over that (also have ac7 added but didnt post it)

you can upgrade the video card a little you will be much happier :D

I plan to upgrade that in the future, but can't afford it right now :).

And that brings up another question. Would this setup be good enough for an 8800 in the future?

it would suit any 8800 wonderfully. a dual core and an 8800GTS 320MB can and will be able to play any game maxed or high settings for a good while to come. this setup is also good for a quad core processor, to add some life once the current one begins to age.

oh but something i might add, do you already have an operating system you can use? the 8800 series will also run better on vista, not XP like some will suggest.

OS is covered and it is Win XP. I will upgrade to vista around the time i upgrade the video card.

So with this setup (and future gpu upgrade) would i be ok going with an e2180 and saving some cash? Or would it be better to go a little higher (ie an e4xx or the e6550). It's beyond what i want to spend but would consider it if its worth breaking my little bank :).

Definition: Are you posting your configuration on this thread to see if we can get the same, or better components at a cheaper price?

Right now, everything looks good. I would get the E4500. If you plan to overclock, I would recommend a better heatsink/fan than the one provided by Intel.

Oh lol, Well yes I guess if someone has a suggestion of a better part for the price, feel free to say so :). I mostly wanted advice on CPU. And I am unsure about the PSU but i may just have to chance it if i want what i already got up there.

Only other question would be... Even if done correctly, does OC'ing shorten the life of your CPU, or any other parts?

oc'ing will shorten the life of a cpu imo but only by a little wat I would suggest is since oc'ing voids the warranty I would wait till the warranty is up to oc just in case anything goes wrong but others might have different views
