Ok then I have a 20 pin PSU which I haven't used it for once also. Now I want to sell it.It came bundled with my case.So will the same procedure works if I want to make sure wether it(PSU) works or not?

it will make sure that the psu works in a basic sence, the psu could still be failing in terms of voltage or current output. But its a good short term indicator
You could combine a jump starts with a multimeter to get the voltage outputs
