is there much difference between 2gb of ram and 4 gb of ram? As i have found 2 pcs around the same price. One contains 4gb of ram with no monitor. the other has 2 gb of ram and a 19" monitor.

I would go with the one with the monitor, if you dont have one already.

As of now, theres really no need for more then 2GB of RAM. And if you are using a 32 bit OS, you can only utilize around 3GB.

I agree! So go get the one with only 2 gigs and the monitor.

But, you might want to list the specs of the system here so we can comment on the rest of the system, and let you know if it is worth the $.

AMD Dual Core X2 5600 AM2 64
2GB Kingston DDR 667
250GB SATA Hard Drive
256Mb Nvidia 8600GTS graphics card DX10
AM2 - MSI K9VGM-V 2XDIMM / DDR2 800
18X DVD+/-RW (Samsung)
No Floppy Disk Drive
19 Inch OCTIGEN TFT Monitor MA9CKA
105 UK standard Keyboard Black or Cream
Integrated Sound Card,
Intergrated Monitor Speakers
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Inc SP2
No Additional Software
13 Month Warranty
Free Carriage

this is the build. it costs £549

Personally I dont like integrated monitor speakers because they are not usually worth a lick, but besides that I dont see much wrong with that as a pre-build. Not sure what that amount in pounds is in USD though ???

Next question, how will you be using this system? Will you be doing a lot of gaming, and wanting to run the newest games at medium settings? Or will you just want it for basic games and surfing the internet?

If you can get the video card upgraded to a 8800 card, then I would go with it. That 8600 card will do OK, but I wouldn't want anything less than a 8800.

Also, that monitor, I have never heard of them, and I would be a bit skeptical about it. Do you know any of the specs for it?

EDIT: Never mind, found the specs for it. To tell you the truth, I would not buy that monitor, it sounds like it would really suck for gaming.

lol i find that even my 1.5 gig of ram is enough. i can play something like quake 4, and be rendering up a 3d animation at the same time, and still have like 500 mb of the ram left.

so unless your massively multitasking, you shouldnt bother

Go with the 19" one. LCD, yes, CRT, screw it. Make sure the 4GB has an 64 bit O/S too.
