New monitor - video card connections

Hi. I recently purchased an Geforce 8800GTS and I noticed that the connections to the monitor where different. I had an HD cable that came with an HD DVD player. I connected this card to the TFT with this cable and I see the picture slightly better (sharper) than when I used the VGA converter.

Is this true or I am only imagining an better picture?
 
yes your changing to digital from analog you should aslo be experiance faster response times from your gpu to your moniter

really? I would appreciate more feedback on this. Is the cable that I used fine? Connections fitted perfectly.
