Computer Issues

If his computer is old, suggest upgrading. It might be more worthwhile building another rig than buying parts for an older one.

Nope, I don't have one, neither does he, so we can't really test it that way :(

That's true... I don't know the exact specs, but I think it's a socket 478, with 512MB of RAM and 9600 Pro AGP card...

I know, I guess he may have to buy a new one, but then, that may not be the problem, so I don't know what to suggest..

It doesn't post, No. There's no beep or anything like that... The HDD light at the front is on, but it doesn'tsound as if it's actually doing anything

I suggest rippin the whole thing to bits so all you have plugged in is the mobo, RAM, CPU, GPU and PSU....

Then mouse, keyboard, monitor.

Then Clear the CMOS just to make sure there aint no crappy settings stored into the BIOS. (Use jumper, battery, what eva...). Then make sure the G-Card is plugged in, might be worth giving the AGP/PCI/PCI-E slot a good blow and even try a small clean brush to make sure the slot is clear.

Do same with DIMMs, then try that. Also do you have any spare DIMMs and GPUs kickin about just to test on the PC?

Ok sure, I'll see what I can do, No HDD plugged in?

Uh Hu, I have some spare RAM and an X850 Pro AGP card that we could try I guess...

Thanks for the help man, really appreciate it! :)

No HDD plugged in?
Dont need the HDD if it aint even bringin the post screen up. I find its best stripping faulty PCs down to the core, it helps me zero in on the problem much quicker.
