Serious Problem

So my computer has been bugging out on me as of late.

Every time i go into a random site, an example would be www.lastfm.com my computer stalls, then an error message comes up, ya know the one that says 'send error report or don't send.

Anyway this is really annoying, anyone know what the problem could be??

That would be an I.Explorer error being seen. Which version of Windows and IE are you running there? I didn't see any IE security flags when going to the link there.

Windows xp and IE-7 if that makes any sense, :(

i'm no good at computers to be honest, i just think i have a very bad virus

Go for AVG not McAFee! It's free and far superior for antivirus program plus Grisoft also offers other free tools for home users like specific trojan/I-Worm removal tools, anti malware and anti rookkit removers. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0

By looking at the details found in the link seen on the error popup and sending the report sometimes that will show the exact type of error being seen. Sometimes an MS page will also open for specifying the source. You may have simply seen a bad install of IE 7 when that went on or even be having a problem with video drivers. That would surprisingly more common then a virus if this is the only time you are having lockups.

Thx a lot, i went for AVG and downloaded the free version, right now it's doing a computer scan,

my question is, will this stop the error messages, if not, what can i do to stop them???

First you have to pay attention to the error message itself. Usually there's a rather awkward text file saved in the DocumentsandSettings folder under the user name there that has all of the tech data seen in that. Active X controls and Java runtime are the usual hangups with any fresh install of Windows. That would be another thought on that.

If you see the security bar appear at the top of the IE window you click on that to allow active x controls to run. Eventually you will be brought to the SUN Microsystems for the free Java runtime used on all versions of Windows. http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

If you were surfing the internet, and did not have some kind of virus software, then I don't feel sorry for you.

You could try using firefox as your browser, it's much better than IE anyways.

it was java, java was the problem, wow..that you so much PC Eye :).

And you are right paratwa it was stupid of me to be surfing without an anti-virus

It's always something simple! But you now have a far better protection inplace. The usual page you are sent to for Java can be seen with the little pc style game running in the middle of the page at http://www.java.com/en/
(Like you really want a diversion when you suddenly find you are being sent to some other page when trying to get on another. )

In Vista I was suddently seeing Data Execution Protection errors when trying to even open IE out of nowhere. Nothing could be found wrong yet IE simply wouldn't log onto the home page and would see the check online now or close program option there. Time to hit the reset button! :P

That's what I mean about "something simple" being a real annoyance. At first I thought is was due to the collection of Quicktime 7.2 abd a few other updates tying up the works as seen in the image here. http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/1130/mostannoyingok9.jpg
